Marije de Haan & Winde Rienstra

Fashion Week LAB
The work of Marije de Haan (Stiens, 1985) concentrates around a surrealististic, quiet feel. It shows aspects of classic menswear but in a disconnected, unusual way.
Marije de Haan graduated in June 2010 at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague. Her final collection, FLATLINERS, was based on the surrealistic, quiet feel pictured in old crime-scene photography. With this collection she won the Lichting 2010 during Amsterdam International Fashion Week. The Lichting 2010 represents the best fashion graduates in the Netherlands.
In September 2010 she was awarded the ‘The Hague Toptalent Scholarship’ which gave her the opportunity to create a new collection for Amsterdam International Fashion Week in January 2011.
This year she received a stipend and will show a new collection at Fashion LAB during Amsterdam Fashion Week.

Winde Rienstra (1981) grew up in Friesland, and graduated in 2009 in Fashion Design at the School of Arts in Utrecht.
During her studies, Winde went abroad to study at the RMIT in Melbourne, Australia. During that time the Australian Vogue published a design of Winde. She won a prize with the mini collection designed in Australia. This collection was sold to the City Museum in Den Haag. In 2010 Winde started her own label. In January 2011 Winde was one of the finalists of the Green Fashion Competition.
Winde received a project grant this year, from Talented Makers from the province of Utrecht. In this project she focuses on the preservation and revitalization of various old traditional craft techniques and their conventional applications in different cultures in the Netherlands. She applies them in her collection in a new and contemporary way. The project is presented in an exhibition. With organizing workshops for academy students and visitors of the exhibition, Winde makes sure that the techniques are not extinct.
Under the label Winde Rienstra, she designs slow fashion. Winde is inspired by architecture, art and nature. Her ambition is to make her label international and showing in London and Paris.
