LM Flower Fashion presents Dennis Diem & Said Mahrouf
21:00 - Westergasfabriek

Dennis Diem’s fascination with corsets arises from the way in which they alter and enhance the female figure. “A woman’s posture is transformed as soon as the body is laced”, he says. High-heeled shoes are fundamental to his work for the same reason. “High-heeled shoes have the power to instantly change a woman’s aura”, he adds.
In 2007 Dennis showed his first collection during a Pink Ribbon event. A year later he invested in himself and his own career by opening his own atelier at Oudezijds Achterburgwal 144 in Amsterdam.
A study trip to Japan was the basis for his second collection, Yurei. He unveiled the collection off-schedule during Amsterdam International Fashion Week 2010. In 2011 Club Brillant presented his Fool’s Gold collection to the public on the main stage of Amsterdam International Fashion Week.

Since 2007 Said Mahrouf annually presents a Prêt-à-Porter collection at
Festimode-Casablanca Fashion Week. In 2008 he, at the invitation of its
director Jean-Pierre Moche, showed his spring/summer collection 2009 during
the Paris' Prêt-à-Porter Salon. His fall/winter 2011 and spring/summer 2012
collections have been bought by the recently opened Galeries de Lafayette
in Casablanca.
Having obtained his studies in fashion design from the Amsterdam Rietveld
Academy and Pratt Institute, Mahrouf initially focussed on the making of
site-specific performances, for which he also designed the costumes. His
work has been displayed at (a.o.) the New Museum of Contemporary Art and
the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum (New York), the Utrecht Central
Museum, the Amsterdam Municipal Museum, Carriage works Gallery (Sydney) and
recently in Casablanca's Loft Gallery. In 2011 he was appointed artistic
director of the 15th edition of Morocco's main traditional fashion event,
Caftan, which was broadcasted live from Marrakech.
